In a recent interview promoting her new movie Bandslam, actress Vanessa Hudgens said that her ultimate role would be Janis Joplin. She furthered her credentials by revealing that in her upcoming movie Beastly, she has a scene at a Halloween party dressed as the singer. Whatever that particular piece of information is worth, it’s not enough, as the role in the long-delayed Joplin biopic went to Zooey Deschanel. This means that Deschanel will probably ugly herself up for Oscar a la Charlize Theron in Monster, but at least Joplin will be spared the indignity of being portrayed by the soulful voice of “We’re All In This Together.” [Angry Ape]
